Paul Simon - The Obvious Child.

One of my favorite songs of his, and probably the reason I started playing drums.

I distinctly remember an east coast road trip with my parents during high school.  We were driving through New Jersey and my Dad was lost and frustrated and I wanted to be anywhere but in the car with my parents.  It was late at night, mid-Fall.  I had a blue discman and some CDs I’d taken from his collection, some Clapton, The Who’s Greatest Hits, Abbey Road, and this.  I had to fight my college-aged brother for this album (and years later, after I lost my first harddrive, I’d go through my CD collection to re-upload his album to find that he’d taken it months before when I wasn’t looking, and I ended up having to buy my own copy) and I slipped it ito my blue discman and turned the volume up as high as it would go.  Those drums - those lyrics! I don’t expect to be treated like a fool no more! made everything so much better.  Squeeze Box, Here Comes the Sun, and Bellbottom Blues helped too.

I still play this song as loud as I can.  I think it works best that way.
